      About Lorde

Lorde is a young, break through artist from New Zealand. Born Ella Yelich-O’Connor in the suburb of Auckland, New Zealand, she started writing songs at the young age of 13. She was initially spotted by a scout for her performance at a talent show in her school, and shortly after was signed to Universal and began working with songwriters. Now, at the age of 16, her fame is growing since releasing her debut EP album in March of 2013.

Lorde released a digital album, “The Love Club EP” in March 2013 featuring five songs, including the top hit “Royals”. This electro-pop track debuted at number one on New Zealand’s Top 40 and remained there for three weeks. Upon its release in the United States in June 2013, over 85,000 copies were sold within one week. Other hits include “The Love Club EP” and “Tennis Court EP” which also landed a number one spot on New Zealand’s Top 40 singles chart in June 2013. By the end of September 2013, her first debut album Pure Heroine was released.

Ella took on the stage name “Lorde” based on her interests in aristocracy, and attracted by the mystery of a hidden identity. Some of her musical inspiration comes from singer Etta James, rap artist Kanye West, and singer Lana Del Rey, and she is also a fan of Nicki Minaj. Her second album Melodrama dropped in June 2017, preceded by hit single “Green Light.” Check out her music with Lorde tickets, she may be near you!
